Cat pee advice anyone?

So, I got home from work this morning, and I was going about my business, doing some laundry and making something to eat and all the sudden I see Crusher standing on a part of a blanket that was on the living room floor, and then he started to squat and I pretty much went irate. I mean, I've tried everything I can think of to get him to stop this. 95% of the time he goes in the litter box, and other times, he usually goes somewhere in the laundry room which is tile, not carpet, so I've let it slide, but now it's moved onto the carpet and it's not gonna work for me anymore. He is a good cat, he really is. Except for that. So, anyway back to my cat-piddle irateness. I pick him up, throw him into the front entrance room, and shut the door. I grab an old baking dish I never use anymore and fill it with cat litter. I put some food and water in there with him. I just didn't know what else to do. I walk away while my other cat, Timber, sits by the door wondering what I did with his friend. They touched paws through the gap beneath the door. I'm not kidding. I didn't even bat an eye at the cuteness. I was mad.

Twenty minutes later, I look to see what he's doing. He had used the make shift litter box, not once, but twice, and he was sitting on the floor staring at me.

So, maybe I inadvertently discovered that all along he just wanted his own litter box? He didn't want to share with his special little friend, Timber? I guess we'll see. If this doesn't solve the problem, he's outta there.
